[HOUSTON] November 15, 2014 The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), a non-profit organization composed of 188 affiliated national federations worldwide, and Harris County Houston Sports Authority (HCHSA) have partnered up with Houston-based marketing firm Signet Interactive to strengthen the international organization’s online marketing efforts.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognized IWF as the sole controlling body for international weightlifting. Signet Interactive and HCHSA make up the Houston local organizing committee for the 2015 event, which will take place Nov. 20-28, at the George R. Brown Convention Center. This event has not taken place in the United States in 40 years.
An estimated 900 competitors from more than 188 affiliated national federations and all five Olympic continents are expected to participate in this IOC sanctioned qualifying event for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic Games.
